Emoji GPS Prize-Giving Ceremony

The Community Development Department has made presentations to the winners of the Emoji GPS Independence competition.

Acting Chief Community Development Officer, Mrs. Yolande Skeete made the presentations to ten of the 20 lucky winners on Tuesday 28th, November 2023 at the Warrens Office of the Department. Most of the winners were women and received mugs, water bottles, note pads, key rings, draw-string bags and umbrellas.

They expressed delight on receiving their prizes and were encouraged to try solving the grand finale puzzle which carries a much larger prize.

Organiser of the event, Mr. Mario Herbert, the Department’s Web and Social Media Manager said social media reach increased 205 percent over last year’s initiative, when Bajan proverbs were unraveled by competitors. Mr. Herbert thanked everyone for taking part in the competition.

The ceremony was emceed by Public Relations Officer/Liaison Officer of the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Community Empowerment, Mrs. Wanda Reid-Beckles, who expressed delight with the response to the competition, adding that participants can expect more witty puzzles to come. In this regard she urged participants to tell their friends and family about the competition, so they can get engaged at all levels.

The Emoji GPS Competition started on October and ended on November 28th with the grand finale puzzle.
