March 31, 2025
The Community Development Department’s Rices Resource Centre in St. Philip is the latest community location to receive a Prince Godwill D Fomusoh Foundation/Massy Foundation ‘Little Library’. Installed on Tuesday, October 22nd , the latest installation was officially opened by Mrs. Yolande Skeete, Chief Community Development Officer (Ag), with Dr. Krishnamurthy Kandamaran, Global Relief Director and Mrs. Sushma Kini, Regional Project Manager of the Prince Godwill D. Fomusoh Foundation assisting.

The library compliments the Rices Young Achievers Programme which focuses on building the reading and comprehension skills of young people from the surrounding communities. The weekly programme, which is facilitated in partnership with the Kiwanis Club, also includes Mathematics and Art.
This installation follows the opening of ‘Little Libraries’ at Rockfield Community Centre in St Lucy, Bonnetts Resource Centre and Bayville Community Centre in St Michael. It is envisaged that the presence of the libraries will encourage more reading among children in the communities and strengthening literacy levels in Barbados.

Also present at the Rices installation were Mrs. Sophia Parris and Mrs. Heather Jones, Senior Community Development Officers, Mr. Bertram Bispham, Community Development Officer and Mr. Drew Reid-Beckles, Community Development Aide for the Rices Resource Centre.
