Introducing Community Xpressions
October 9, 2026
The Community Development Department (CDD) will host its signature programme, ‘Community Xpressions’, on Saturday, 17 October 2026, at the Golden Square Freedom Park, Fairchild Street, Bridgetown, beginning at 4:30 p.m. Community Xpressions showcases the skills Community residents have acquired through training courses offered by the CDD at its community centres. It brings participants’ talents together in a coordinated, professional community production—demonstrating how training can foster creativity, confidence, community participation and income-generating opportunities. At the heart of the event will be a fashion showcase featuring models, trained by the CDD, presenting garments, jewellery, make-up, nail artistry, bags and hairstyles created by course participants. The programme will also feature entertainment by CDD-trained dancers, musicians and DJs. CDD-trained designers will transform the venue, while refreshments will be provided by a team of CDD-trained mixologists.
More than an event, Community Xpressions highlights the journey from training to practical application, creativity, production and public presentation and shows how these skills can open pathways to entrepreneurship and income generation. By bringing different skills and programmes together, it offers a public platform for participants to share what they can achieve.
