CDD Christmas Outreach Programme 2023

The Community Development Department hit the road on Tuesday, 19th December, 2023, to share joy and Christmas cheer in various communities.

Acting Chief Community Development Officer, Yolande Skeete says the response to its “Christmas Outreach Programme 2023 ’’ has been phenomenal. The CDD chief and officers took to the streets to spread Christmas joy throughout several urban communities, following a successful response to the inaugural 2022 initiative.

This year, the first stop was at the Ivy, St Michael where scores of children and their parents showed their delight with many smiling faces and excited laughter as they received gifts and interacted with Santa.

The CDD Acting Chief noted that whilst it rained heavily on Monday, they took the opportunity with cleared skies on Tuesday to distribute gifts to the children. Mrs. Skeete emphasized that “the children are their focus … and they appreciated the efforts of the CDD immensely”.

Santa Claus and Minnie Mouse also joined the Community Development Department through the communities, along with drummers, stilt walkers and other children’s characters to light up the yuletide season. In addition to the Ivy, they visits were also made to the Pine, Valery, Emmerton and Bush Hall in St Michael. The CDD then hit the road again on Wednesday, December 20th, this time heading north with stops in St Lucy, St James, St Peter, St Andrew and St Thomas.
