CDD Spreads Joy at Christmas
December 16, 2025
Hundreds of Barbadian children have received Christmas gifts as the Community Development Department continued to ‘Spread Joy’
in numerous communities across the island this yuletide season.
From early Monday morning Acting Chief Community Development Officer, John Hollingsworth led his team through Barbados’ most populous parish in the ‘Spreading Joy at Christmas’ motorcade loaded with goodies for the children.

The route included Deacons Resource Centre, Passage Road, Bayville Community Centre, Ivy Community Centre, the Delisle Bradshaw Resource Centre in the Pine, Grazettes Resource Centre, Andrew Alleyne Community Centre at Station Hill, Harold Nurse Community Centre at Friendship, Bush Hall Resource Centre and Eden Lodge Community Centre under the watchful eyes of a police escort.
The motorcade spent well over eight hours on the road on day one of the week-long Spreading Joy at Christmas initiative.
Acting Chief Community Development Officer, John Hollingsworth was elated at the overwhelming response to the initiative as children flocked to the community and resource centres along the route to receive their gifts.

“When I see the great joy on the faces of the little ones who light up as they receive their gifts, I am very happy, as they, along with others in their communities, build community spirit this yuletide season, “Mr. Hollingsworth posited.

The Acting CDD Chief says this year they are “targeting low income communities to ensure that joy is brought into their lives this yuletide season.”
Accompanied by Santa Claus, Minnie Mouse, and the Hayneville Youth Group Tuk Band and dancers, the “Spreading Joy” initiative moves to St Lucy, St James and St Peter on Day Two, Tuesday December 16th as it touches the hearts of children this Christmas.

“This initiative is very important to us and this year we are going for an entire week as we traverse all eleven parishes touching the lives of thousands of little ones across Barbados,” Mr. Hollingsworth remarked. The CDD Chief says the Christmas Outreach Programme is here to stay and will continue to be an annual event on their calendar, as they seek to reach out to children across Barbadian communities, whilst building community spirit.
