Ministry of Sports and Community Empowerment

Social Media Competitions

Initiative Overview

The Community Development Department recognises that modern Barbadians also operate in online communities. Just as we love to engage with the public at physical centres, it’s also important to us that we foster a sense of community on our social media pages. As such, we offer social media competitions from time to time, as a means of encouraging engagement and interaction on our pages.

Employees of the Ministry of Youth, Sports & Community Empowerment, and their immediate families, are not eligible to win prizes.

For daily or weekly competitions, previous winners are not eligible to win another prize for the duration of that particular competition.

Identical posts on Facebook and Instagram are treated as one and the same. Competitors may leave responses on both platforms, but if correct, that response will only be regarded once (on the platform to which it was posted first).

Prize-winners must be in a position to collect their prizes from the Community Development Department.

Winners must be willing to have their photo taken to be used by the Community Development Department and the Ministry of Youth Sports and Community Empowerment for promotional and archival purposes.

Winners must be following the Department’s social media page on the platform through which they participated in the competition.

Contact

Winners will be contacted initially through the same social media account they used to participate in the competition. If we are unable to reach a winner in time for the announcement or presentation of prizes, an alternative winner may be selected.
