Bayville and Bonnetts Community Centres in St Michael were the two latest locations for the Barbados is Blooming Little Libraries initiative of the Prince Godwill D Formusoh Foundation/Massy Foundation partnership with the Community Development Department (CDD).
The installations, which were held on June 28th, were witnessed by Acting Chief Community Development Officer, Yolande Skeete and Managing Director, Anita Sundaram of the Prince Godwill D Formusoh Foundation (PGDFF), other officers and the project team from PGDFF and CDD respectively. These installations brought the total number to 10 community placed mini libraries following a previous installation at Rockfield Community Centre, St Lucy in May.

Youth Minister, the Honourable, Charles Griffith is on record stating that “ he hopes the installation of mini-libraries across Barbados would spark a massive resurgence of reading across the island.” He’s also encouraged the wider community to embrace the project by donating used books, or purchasing new ones for the library.

The Honourable William Duguid, M.P. was represented by Personal Assistant Sophia Husbands at the Bonnetts Resource Centre installation. Both libraries received special presentations from local author Mario Herbert who donated copies of his teen adventure comedy catalogue to the respective libraries at Bonnetts and Bayville.

The Ministry team expressed their warm thanks and appreciation to the Prince Godwill D Formusoh Foundation and Massy Foundation for partnering with the Community Development Department to make the initiative a reality for Barbados.
